Artist Statement
For this assignment I did as my independent fourth quarter project, I decided to take macro photos of the plants and flowers in my yard to show the vast differences of each plant in such a large garden. This outlook on a garden can also relate to that of society as we are all people, but we are all unique in different ways, as none of us are the same. I captured different textures, colors, animals, sizes, and more on each different flower, stem, and plant.
Throughout this project, I captured different flowers, and ultimately decided to capture one type of flower, peonies, as a progression as they grew, developed, and eventually died. One large problem I had throughout this project was with wind, as it was difficult to take photos with a macro lens while the flowers are moving because such little movement can cause such an impact on the photo. My favorite photos were the peonies and I really enjoyed this project as I learned and grew as a photographer.
